Building Better Communication Skills for Children in Greater Los Angeles

Our Services

  • School-Based Services

We provide school-based speech therapy services for daycare through high school students in the Greater Los Angeles area. We work with each student’s education team to meet their communication goals in school and at home.

  • In-Home Services

Our in-home speech therapy services provide families with the convenience of therapy sessions in the comfort of their own home. Our experienced therapists work with children of all ages, in the most naturalistic environment, the home.

  • In-Clinic Services

At our clinic we individually design therapy sessions for each client, involve caregivers in each session, and teach parents and caregivers how to address communication needs throughout their daily routines to promote even more progress at home.

  • Group Therapy

Our group therapy sessions offer a supportive and social environment for children to work on specific speech and language goals. With small peer groups, our experienced therapists provide personalized attention to each child.

  • Telehealth Services

Our telehealth services provide a convenient and accessible option for families who prefer remote therapy. With the COVID pandemic, telehealth has become increasingly popular as a safe and effective way to receive therapy.

  • Social Skills Groups

Our social skills groups are designed to improve communication and social interaction skills in both school and clinical settings. With small group sizes, children can benefit from peer interaction and individual attention from our experienced therapists.

Evaluation

At Santa Monica Speaks, we provide comprehensive evaluation and assessment services to identify and address your child's unique communication needs. Through a combination of case history collection, standardized assessments, observational assessments, and parent/caregiver interviews, we gain a deep understanding of your child's speech, language, and communication abilities. This thorough analysis helps us create personalized treatment plans that support your child's communication development and ensure they reach their full potential.

Treatment

At Santa Monica Speaks, we provide personalized treatment services tailored to your child's unique communication needs. We offer flexible therapy options, including in-home, on-site, and tele-therapy sessions, to ensure the most convenient and effective care for your child. Our compassionate therapists collaborate closely with your child's entire care team, including parents, teachers, and other healthcare professionals, to promote consistent progress in speech, language, and communication skills. By creating enjoyable and engaging therapy experiences, we help your child thrive in everyday interactions.

Speech

Speech effects how much we understand of our little one’s communication. At Santa Monica Speaks we evaluate and treat those with needs in articulation (speech sounds), Apraxia of Speech, fluency, speech delay, voice, and anatomical difficulties from cleft lip/palate. Through evaluation and treatment, we help children meet their developmental benchmarks for speech sound acquisition, intelligibility, and easy, clear communication.

Language

Receptive and Expressive language is the main need of most of our clients. Receptive language refers to a child’s ability to follow directions, respond to simple questions, and identify people and objects by name. Expressive language therapy focuses on a child’s ability to communicate their wants/needs through verbalization, non-verbal gesture, sign, eye gaze, or vocalizations. We guide families in helping children unlock their inner voice.

Social

Your therapist can help encourage social language cues from your child. From eye contact, to joint attention, imitation in play, turn taking, and sharing. We focus on working with families to support non-verbal language and peer-to-peer interaction. We work with children with a variety of needs from Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Sensory Processing Disorder, and Neurogenic Disorders.
